== Working with station security ==
During your shift you will encounter petty criminals, they should be dealt with promptly and handed over to security so you can focus on your objectives. We cannot outline every scenario, however the stations security should be utilized whenever possible.

You will frequently work with the warden's and head of security, keep in mind you are required to file and keep weapon permit's for ANY armory weapon taken. You are entrusted with the assured protection and security of station command staff along with NanoTrasen personnel, this is your contractual job. Security should not hinder you from completing your job, any issues should be resolved through the H.O.S or Captain. The Blue Shield Officer '''cannot''' interfere with the lawful arrest of command staff.

If you are unable to revive your V.I.P safely and securely, it is advised that you bring them to brig-medical. Remember to ask before taking supplies, as they are scarce!

== Preparing for success ==
Its good practice to track members of command staff, some may be adverse at first however their protection is paramount. Utilize the "Command-Friend X0-1" - This device is a hand-held crew monitor which displays the location of command staff or individuals with a tracking implant. It is recommended you upgrade the battery as it's power hungry!

When protecting so many high-valued personnel, you are bound to run into trouble and you cannot be everywhere at once! Therefore, you may be the first responder to a injured member of command, NanoTrasen has given you a combat medical kit, inside it contains life saving topical's along with auto-injector's. You should prepare for hazardous environments during your shift, It is well known the station is equipped with emergency airlocks, when possible keep a crowbar on you to aid in opening said airlocks.

== Using your stamp ==
While it's uncommon for the Blue Shield Officer to be caught up in paperwork, they are required to document any weapon taken from armory with signed and stamped approval from the Head Of Security or Warden.

The Blue Shield Officer should partner with the NanoTrasen representative when resolving issues on station, if the Blue Shield Officer cannot perform their duties you should report this to Central Command for immediate investigation. Keep in mind the captain must have approval from central command to fire any NanoTrasen personnel, unless they are actively detrimental to the station and its crew.

Remember, the protection of NanoTrasen personnel and command staff is paramount, it is strongly recommended you alert central command to station wide threats and or rescue location.

The NanoTrasen Representative is the physical presence of NanoTrasen on the station. While the station is NanoTrasen property, this however does not grant any elevated privileges outside of their required duties. Nanotrasen Representatives are expected to posses general knowledge of '''EVERY''' departmental role of the station as well as [[Corporate Law]]. While not expected to perform the duties of any department they may however perform '''"non-sec"''' duties in the event that intervention is required.

While the representative holds a high-status among the crew, they have no official command authority unless explicitly stated by Central Command. However disregarding a representative's advice may lead to unforeseen consequences.

== Central Command and You. ==
Central Command refers to the staffing company NanoTrasen utilizes to man their stations in the Starlight Sector. All employees with the exception of the NanoTrasen Representative, Magistrate, Internal Affairs Agent, and Blue Shield Officer are contracted through CentComm to work on NanoTrasen stations as needed. Central Command prides itself on its command staff, as such they have devoted a majority of their resources to training these individuals, who in turn are expected to handle oversight and day to day operations on the stations. Brand new employees are provided a comprehensive pamphlet complete with infographics prior to their first shift. Since all heads of staff and captains receive extensive training through CentComm they are viewed as investments to be protected, while most other employees are easier to replace.<blockquote>"People are our business" - <i> quote from recently hired CentComm Official</i></blockquote>While NanoTrasen owns the stations and all equipment, CentComm’s assets are their employees. Your role is what determines your starting equipment, responsibilities, and access.

Most roles require you to have played on the Starlight server for a minimum amount of time and/or spent a minimum amount of time in a certain department or role. This time accumulates in real time by being in an active game round and in the relevant department or role.

Some roles (meant for beginners) become inaccessible when you have a certain amount of time in roles or departments. This is indicated in the tables with a negative time value. For example: the Technical Assistant role becomes inaccessible after spending 15 hours total in the Engineering department.

Command consists of every department head. It is responsible for keeping the station and its departments running efficiently.

The heads of each department come together to form the Command department, a force to be reckoned with and the handlers of the station. They usually have access to special equipment and their own rooms. They are often wanted dead.

Medical is one of the more well-equipped departments, with the ability to locate injured crew using the crew monitor, a nigh infinite supply of chems should chemistry be on-par, and the ability to rapidly diagnose and vaccinate contagious diseases.

The law department consists of a Magistrate operating with two Internal Affairs Agents as their underlings. They are responsible for making sure that the Space Law is correctly followed by the Security Department, aswell as providing a way for criminals to legally defend themselves against the sometimes unfair sentences that are given to them.

Their in-depth knowledge of Space Law allows them to have authority over legal matters, and only a handful of Security members can proudly affirm that they have spent more time studying Space Law.
