Service Department SoP

Service is a diverse department that includes the head of personnel and other jobs who exist to serve the station.

It primarily functions as folks who entertain, clean, and serve the rest of the crew, with the exception of passengers who have no particular job beyond getting lost in maintenance.

Keeps the station clean, efficient and sane so that all other departments can do their jobs better and keep their staff happy. They also end up doing most of the paperwork on the station.

Head of Personnel

Handle access reassignment fairly using your ID console, manage the service department, and keep Ian safe.

Chef

Station Kitchens exist to provide nutrient to the station's crew, ensuring they remain at optimal productivity.

Staff

• Kitchen staff include Service Workers currently working within a Station Kitchen and Chefs.

Chain of Command

• Service Workers report to the Chef.
• Chefs report directly to the Head of Personnel.

Duties include:

• Preparing and providing a steady supply of nutrient to station crew.
• Ensuring the Kitchen and connecting areas remain clean and free of tripping hazards.
• Preparing special orders for crew.
• Providing requested foodstuffs for Cargo Bounties.
• Proper food storage to prevent deterioration, rot or rodent infestation.
• Disposal of animal carcasses to prevent ammonia build up.

Requirements:

• Wear proper Kitchen attire, including but not limited to white for Chefs and white or black for Service Workers.
• Always carry and display station ID.
• Be available to the crew.

Station Animals:

• Mice and Mothroaches are considered vermin and may be freely caught and prepared for crew consumption
• Cows, pigs and sheep may belong to Botany and confirmation of intention should be obtained before being prepared as food
• Animals kept in station Zoo are not to be prepared as food
• Monkeys and Kobolds are mass produced protein sources and except from Trans-Solar Federation protections unless officially recognised as sapient (see Pun Pun)
• Station Pets are not to be hunted or prepared for crew consumption unless death occurs naturally

Bartender

Manage the bar and keep it lively, give out drinks, and listen to the crew's stories.

Botanist

Grow food for the chef, drugs for medbay, and other plants to keep yourself entertained.

Janitor

Keep the station clean of any trash or slipping hazards, and help deal with rat infestations.

Chain of Command:

• Janitors report directly to the Head of Personnel.

Duties include:

• Removal of spills
• Removal of graffiti
• Clearing passages and workspaces of trash
• Replacing broken or missing lightbulbs
• Removing rust from station hull
• General tidying of areas (eg, getting things off the floor, putting things away in suitable containers, placing things back on tables, etc)

Requirements:

• Wear identifying attire of Janitorial purple (Hat, Jumpsuit, coat, scarf, etc)
• Maid dress is also acceptable
• Yellow, Purple or White gloves
• Yellow, Purple or White galoshes
• Always carry and display station ID
• Be available to crew
• Announce your presence and intention to crew when entering departmental workspaces

• Cleaning of maintainence corridors
• Replacing of lights within maintainence corridors
• Report areas in need of new light construction to Engineering
• Order additional cleaning and lighting supplies from Cargo
• Delivery of additional mousetraps to Kitchen and Botany
• Delivery of animal carcasses to Kitchen
• Delivery of Xeno carcasses to Science

Clown

Entertain the crew through elaborate slapstick routines or terrible jokes.

Mime

Entertain the crew through non-vocal means, and engage with light rivalry with the clown.

Librarian

Manage the library, give out knowledge to any who seek it, and report on activities aboard the station.

Service Worker

Learn the basics of bartending, cooking, and growing plants.

Zookeeper

Put on a joyful display of cute animals and space carps for all the crew to see. Currently available on Cog and Oasis.

Reporter

Entertain & inform the crew with your vibrant journalism through wireless cameras, the radio and the news. Currently available on Bagel Station, Cog, Core, Train and Oasis.

Musician

Entertain the crew with your unique musical talent, and acquire new instruments to mess around with.
