Paperwork

Unlike real life, paperwork can be fun, especially when you are the one handing it out. When done right it can even make sense: For example a Chef could hand a list of needed ingredients that he would like to be grown instead of having to engage socially (yuck) or having the other person forget after 3 seconds.

How it works

It is simple but more complex than writing pure texts. You can use some formatting and even create forms that are easy to fill out by the applicant.

Basics

• To read something you left-click on the item
• To write something you use a pen on paper, which opens the edit-field

Both pen and paper are usually available on the desks of departments and of course in the library. Every crew-member has an ejectable pen within the pda (use the rightclick-eject). As usual there are variations to the writing-tools like luxury pens, crayons and books that pretty much behave the same. The only real difference is that some papers such as the ones from document printers have a different header/style. So you can't outright create any document just with pen and paper.

Signing and Stamping

Documents are not just scribbles on paper. They are about big important stamps and illegible signatures, too. Using a stamp on a paper will add a corresponding stamp on it like "Approved". Likewise when you have a pen in hand you get the rightclick-option to sign the document, which will scribble your name on it. You can stamp and sign a document multiple times but the first stamp/signature finalises the document. This meants it can no longer be edited in terms of its content, thus preventing forgery (which is kind of sad). However you can always adjust the text before handing it in in the hope that the Head of Personnel won't check the fineprint.

Document Printer

The document printer can be used to print standard documents with a single click (after feeding it paper). This is far more convenient than having to copy-paste templates externally, however here are the templates so you can expand / adjust them as needed.
